We’re Getting Married!
Jane Mackinlay & Darcy Thomson
13.12.2024
Finer Details.
The Ceremony.
The ceremony will be taking place at Melbourne Town Hall, in the heart of our favourite city. Please arrive at 4:00 for a 4:30 start. We'll be there to greet you, so join us for a drink before the ceremony gets underway and things get legal.
If you'd like to enjoy some of our beautiful city's bars before the ceremony, we can offer the following first-hand recommendations, Siglo (10 min walk), Her (5 min walk), Kirk's Wine Bar (5 min walk), or one of the sixteen zillion bars, cafes and restaurants in the CBD.
Travel.
The only small catch/twist to the day is that there is a short journey between our ceremony and reception locations. Fortunately both venues are located close to stops along the 109 tram route. So… Ding goes the wedding tram*! Board the 109 tram (Collins Street, stop 6 - approximately 100m from Town Hall) and ride all the way to Station Pier (the final stop - 400m from The Yacht Club). Or for those without a Myki card, or an aversion to public transport, an Uber will get you there in about 10-15 minutes.
*to be clear there is no specific wedding tram, PTV have been unnecessarily strict around adding decorative white ribbons and adorning their vehicles in confetti, so we recommend just getting on any tram that says '109' on it.
The Reception.
The reception will begin from 6:00 PM at the Yacht Club, with cocktails and canapes, weather permitting, this will be taking place on the deck over looking the picturesque Spirit Of Tasmania Port Phillip Bay.
Sadly, our venue does not have the infrastructure to facilitate the aerial first dance routine that we have always dreamed of, so we have made the difficult decision to scrap formalised/choreographed dances altogether, instead we’re putting our resources into pyrotechnics.
There is a rather large TBC around the fireworks, but we can guarantee a lovely dinner, great company, speeches with brevity and cake. We expect the party to finish at midnight.
If you have any questions, please let us know (we’ve answered a few here).
